This is something I wanted to understand myself. I wanted to learn the secret sauce behind the most successful brands, & see if it might be possible for any business to replicate it.
This journey started for me around 6 years ago, when I was at my lowest point. Some would say I was at a turning point in my life. A time of discovery.
It was a time of learning that I'd not need to attend any university lecture for.
But in trying to learn about others & what had made them successful, I actually learnt more about myself. I learnt about what had made me successful at various times throughout my life, but more importantly, the reasons behind that.
The system changed my life, & shifted my thought process forever.
This wasn't a period of reflection for me, at the time I was frantically trying to keep my head above water, while at the same time trying to rebuild my life. The most important thing I'd learnt though, is why, at various times throughout my life, I'd not been successful, and what the reasons behind that were, which meant I then had a strategy for almost guaranteeing my success in the future.
This was when I stumbled across a profiling system, developed by Roger Hamilton of Wealth Dynamics. The system changed my life, & shifted my thought process forever.
Over the last few years, I've studied the system in much greater detail, and since, we've now set up our business model to reflect this. Bringing in people according to their strengths, but also changing how service is delivered through adopting the system within the core business model.
I'd tried various profiling systems before, but never really understood how they reflected me in everyday life, or even how I could use that information to improve my life, as well as the results in the business. With the Wealth Dynamics system, it taught me where I was strongest, but it also gave me a strategy, almost like my own personal pathway to achieve success.
So, how can you build the perfect team for your business?
First of all, you need to know clearly which roles are needed within your business. Understand what the particular attributes and strengths needed by people performing those roles. We aren't just talking here about doing the task, we're talking about absolutely smashing the results like you've never done before. Imagine stepping up your performance to achieve 10 times what you'd normally achieve. That's the level of performance change you're aiming for.
Second, you need to understand the people in the business already. This is where the profiling system helps. After you know this, you can identify where people are working in the wrong type of role. I can tell you that about 80% of the average workforce are working in the wrong type of role. The easiest way to verify this, is just to open your ears on a Monday morning and listen to people complaining. If they work in a role that suits their profile, they enjoy it. It's not a job to them. It's because they haven't set their life & career choices up to reflect their profile.
When you put people in their most suited role, according to their profile, not only will their life change but they'll become happier. The plus side for everyone though, your business will also change, & the results will be almost instantaneous.
You might have to let some people go, but we'll call that process, "liberating their freedom", because nobody likes to be in a job they hate, but occasionally they just need someone else to push them into changing for the better. This is where you come in. Go forward and liberate them.
By doing this, it lets us see where the gaps are. It teaches us which strengths to look for in the future, & effectively changes the recruitment process to reflect how we'll find the best suited people in the future.
For me, I discovered my strength is in creation & innovation. Creating new ideas, innovating how we do things, solving problems, thinking strategically, thinking 5 years from now. In fact most of my time is spent planning ideas for 2 - 5 years from now. It's always been what I enjoy, so I question myself, why did I ever get involved in the things that didn't inspire me? The tasks I found mundane. It's because, like everyone else, I was programmed to think I had to do those tasks.
Our education system teaches us to focus on improving our weaknesses. Building a world of average people, doing tasks we find boring & mundane. Why would we do that? It's like encouraging a lion to learn to swim. After many hours trying, I suppose we could teach the lion to swim, but my point is, the lion will never swim as good as a fish, and so what would be the point? - Apologies to any lion that can swim
